LONG LAKE TOWNSHIP BOARD
MEETING MINUTES
August 9, 2011 Town Hall
The regular monthly Town Board meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Chairman LeRoy Sandridge and followed with the Pledge of Allegiance. Board supervisors Ed Olund and Brett Westphal were present along with Treasurer Ruth Ann Dinga, and Clerk Marcia Kampf.
MONTHLY BOARD MEETING MINUTES: A motion was made by Ed Olund and seconded by Brett to approve the minutes from July 12, 2011. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT: The Board approved Ruth Ann’s July, 2011 financial report as presented with a motion made by Brett and seconded by Ed. Motion passed.
VARIANCE APPLICATION FOR THOMAS & MARY ANN SAHS: The planning Commission denied the application because the addition was not on the application. Sterling Sahs, brother of Thomas was present. A motion was made to deny the expansion as it was not written on the application by Brett and seconded by Ed. Motion carried. The Planning Commission will look at it again on Sept. 1.
NW REGIONAL PLANNING-DICK HARTMAN: He explained the purpose of the organization. The Town has been giving $250 dues each year to support this group.
REVIEW AMBULANCE SERVICE CONTRACT: Brett has been talking to LMC about servicing the East side of the lake instead of Birchwood as LMC does not charge the Township. LMC is willing to do this. The Town must give 9 months notice to Birchwood. Brett will have the agreement next month. Barb Logue from 1st Responders said that more people will be needed to service the east side.
REVISIONS FOR UBC ORDINANCE: LeRoy read the revisions from the Planning commission. Marcia will prepare the revisions and post them and they will be voted on at the Sept. meeting.
NEW CHAIRS FOR TOWN HALL: LeRoy had a couple of chairs to try. The chairs are being donated.
HOLY ISLAND ROAD REPAIRS: Several people were present from Holy Island. Mark Leech, President of the Holy Island organization, presented comments from the people on Holy Island. John Nordby voiced some concerns about changing the road from gravel to chip sealing. They want to keep the gravel but want to control the dust and speed. Robin Kincaid said an official 15 mile an hour speed limit would be beneficial. Brett will contact the Highway Commissioner regarding this. LeRoy indicated that the Board makes the decision on what will be done on the roads. Estimate cost for double chip sealing on Holy Island Rd is $24,895 with fog seal at 2,550. The Board discussed possibly chip sealing another road if Holy Island people don’t want it. This will be on the agenda next month.

LeRoy – had a letter referencing the insurance bonds for the Town. Marcia will check into it further.

VOUCHERS: A motion was made by LeRoy and seconded by Ed to pay vouchers 2517-2532 plus EFT transfer 888888. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm. The next regular monthly meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 at 6:00 pm. A tape of these minutes will be kept on file at the Town Hall or at the Clerks Home.
