LONG LAKE TOWNSHIP BOARD
MEETING MINUTES

August 10, 2010 Town Hall

The regular monthly Town Board meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Chairman LeRoy Sandridge. Board supervisors Harvey Olund and Wes Mohns, Treasurer Ruth Ann Dinga, and Clerk Marcia Kampf were present.

MONTHLY BOARD MEETING MINUTES: A motion was made by Harvey and seconded by Wes to approve the July 13 monthly board minutes with the correction to Harvey’s report that the $14,300 was only for patch and did not include chip seal. Motion approved. Clerk then read the minutes from the Special Board Meeting held July 20. A motion was made by Wes to accept the minutes and seconded by Harvey. Motion carried.

FINANCIAL REPORT: The Board approved Ruth Ann’s July, 2010 financial report as presented with a motion made by Harvey and seconded by Wes. Motion passed.

VARIANCE APPLICATION FOR Lois Walton/James Gronberg: The builder, Mike Houser, was present and answered questions from the Board. Marcia read letters received from Planning Commission Members and neighbors regarding the variance. Wes made a motion to accept the variance-seconded by Harvey-Motion passed.

PIERCE ROAD EXTENSION: Vern Pierce was present and has a problem of having no road to his property. He has to cross his brother’s property. LeRoy said he needs to get an easement first and then he can get a driveway permit from the Town of Long Lake.

DECISION ON 30TH AVE FROM 23 ¾ ST W TO BRIDGE ST: Harvey made a motion to bring to the table this decision as it was tabled at the last meeting. The motion was seconded by Wes. Motion carried. Town of Long Lake is getting funds for this section from the State. The Town of Oak Grove has been maintaining this section. LeRoy went to an Oak Grove Town meeting and discussed this with their Board. It was decided that Long Lake will take care of this section.

RECYCLING ELIMINATION AT TOWN HALL AND DUMP SITE: A representative from the County was present and said the cost of maintaining this was too high. The contracts are up in January. LeRoy suggested that the Town just have recycling at the Town site on D from April to Nov. and close the recycling at the Town Hall during the winter. Harvey & Wes agreed. Recycling is available at the dump in Sarona and also on Highway 70 all year. This will be discussed at the County level.

LINKING OTHER WEB SITES: Marcia linked the website for the Washburn County Economic Development Corp. to the Town of Long Lake website. It was not difficult to do and the Board decided that linking to other sites that were non-profit was acceptable
.
LOGGING AT TOWN HALL: LeRoy has nothing yet. Hoky West was present and gave LeRoy some names to check on.

LAWYER UPDATE: LeRoy received some information on the Morningside property from Attorney Joe Thrasher. Joe sent for another piece of information and when this arrives will update the Board on his findings.

DATE OF SEPTEMBER MEETING: It will be Sept. 21 at 6:00 pm. because the election is on the 2nd Tuesday in September.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: LeRoy reported that he had called the Town’s association and was told that Committees should post meeting notices. He will notify Barb Logue from the recreation committee of this.
PUBLIC INPUT:
• Hoky West-begged Board to get grant money for Eastside boat landing improvement also. He expressed his desire to see parking increased at that boat landing to take pressure off the Town Hall boat landing.

REPORTS OF TOWN OFFICERS:
 LeRoy-Boat landing won’t be closed until after Sept. 12 due to a bass tournament.
 Harvey Olund- County will do Eastside Rd-wedging & patching. Discussed crack sealing-will get an estimate. Lakken Road and Fristad Road will be mowed.
 Wes Mohns-will go to Sturgeon Bay on Friday for a meeting dealing with the boat landing grant.
 Ruth Ann-nothing
 Marcia-discussed clean-up days which are Aug. 20 & 21. Harvey will work on Friday morning and LeRoy will work Friday afternoon and Sat. morning. Marcia will e-mail sign up sheets to them.

VOUCHERS: A motion was made by Harvey and seconded by Wes to pay vouchers 2248-2266. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at 6:00 pm. A tape of these minutes will be kept on file at the Town Hall or at the Clerks Home.
