Town of Long Lake Plan Commission
Meeting Minutes – September 9, 2010
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bill Austin at 6:13 PM
Roll Call – Present were Austin, Haessig & Romsos. Absent were Barta & Sandridge.
Motion made by Dave Haessig, second by Bill Austin to approve the July 1, 2010 minutes as written. Motion carried.
Old Business; Bill Austin reported that he had received no updates from Leroy regarding the Morningside property issue.
Chairman Austin also stated the grant for improving the boat landing requires that a fee schedule be established by the town. Bill will ask the town to give us their suggestions and then we will pursue establishing a schedule based on other landings of similar size and circumstances. A letter from Cooper Engineering expressed their interest in working on the landing plans and project.
With Allan Barta absent and not able to present an updated progress report we decided to delay a review until our next meeting.
New Business: It was decided that in future meetings we would get back into review of the ordinances and the Comp Plan. Dave mentioned that a new state ordinance re NR115 is on hold until after the fall election.
Regarding the Plan Commission’s past performance it was felt by those present that there was value in what we were doing and we should continue with current projects and plans. We agreed to proceed with the “Building Permitting Process” brochure/flyer discussed previously. Bill Austin will take a mock up of the flyer to Planning (Web M.) and hopefully get his support. We would also propose to offer it to all townships (for their modification if needed) in hopes to get it to be a “standard handout” at the Planning Office whenever a permit or variance request is made.
Public Input at this meeting - none
Remarks by Commissioners – Dave Haessig discussed some of the budget issues facing the county. He also mentioned that there is an increasing number of lake properties throughout the county being rented on a regular basis.
