Town of Long Lake Plan Commission
Meeting Minutes 9/1/2011
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bill Austin at 6:00 PM
Roll Call – In attendance were committee members: Chairman Bill Austin, Wes Mohns, Le Roy Sandridge and Al Ausing. Not Present Eugene Romsos.
Additional attendees were Long Lake Town Board members Ed Oland and Brett Wesphal, Mr. and Mrs. Sahns, Connie Breunig and Joe Thrasher.
Minutes of the 8/2/11 meeting were approved as written.
New Business:
Thomas and Mary Sahs
Variance request by Thomas and Mary Sahs was re-submitted to committee. Request was submitted to raise existing dwelling to accommodate improved utilities (heat source) and to construct a 16’ x 16’ porch addition. Discussion was made questioning the distance from new addition to existing septic system. In addition the subject of proper shoreline mitigation was also discussed. It was determined based on visual observation that the current mitigation appeared to be compliant as is. Motion made by Wes Mohns to grant variance request as presented. Motion 2nd by Al Ausing. Motion carried. Recommendation signed by Chairman Bill Austin to be presented to Town Board.
Jacob and Connie Breunig
Variance request by Jacob and Connie Breunig was submitted to remodel existing home in current location to expand kitchen, add a screen porch on lakeside and to reconstruct and reduce the size of existing detached garage. It was determined that current set backs from lake as well as one side yard are non-compliant. Drawings of proposed construction were submitted and viewed by committee and town board members present. Discussion was made regarding a “loft” being constructed on existing attached garage. Mrs. Breunig stated no loft was to be included. Motion was made by Chairman Bill Austin to approve request with the recommendation that the proposed screen porch extend no closer to the lake than existing structure. Motion was 2nd by Wes Mohns. Motion carried.
Joe Thrasher presented an update/report from the LLPA regarding discussions with the DNR about the LLPA AIS grant and possible redirecting of some of the monies. Indication was made that funding for boat wash and rain garden on the Town Hall property was possible and that the current DNR grant could be extended at least 1 year.
Old Business:
Town UBC ordinance
Planning Commission recommendations and changes to Town of Long Lake UBC ordinance are submitted to Town Chairman Le Roy Sandridge. No new discussion.
County Subdivision ordinance adoption
Motion was made by Chairman Bill Austin that the Town Board adopt the current County subdivision ordinance as it is currently written. Motion 2nd by Wes Mohns. Motion carried.
Motion to adjourn made by Le Roy and 2nd by Wes at 8:00 PM
