Town of Long Lake Plan Commission
Meeting Minutes – March 4, 2010
Chairman Bill Austin called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
Commission members: All members present
Minutes of the February 4, 2010 meeting were reviewed and approved as written.
Old Business: Town chairman Sandridge stated he had no update on Morningside property other than the town board had agreed to have Theil’s office proceed with obtaining a clear title.
The Plan Commission’s recommendations generated at the joint meeting of 1/6/10 were not presented to the town board at the last meeting. They will become an agenda item at the next meting.
Chairman Bill Austin agreed to start a dialog with County Zoning regarding a better and more timely communications method as it pertains to issuing land use permits and Shoreline restoration/mitigation reporting.
The boat landing at the town hall was discussed. David Haessig stated the LLPA had met and wanted to work with the Plan Com and Town Board on the boat landing project. They want to extend the project (using a couple of additional grants) to address the property (foot print) run-off and shoreline enhancements. A joint meeting, requested and set for May 6th will be used to discuss plans and magnitude of the project. Motion made for joint meeting by Haessig, second by Sandridge, motion carried. Attendees to include: Plan Com, Town Board, LLPA, DNR, UW Stevens Point, and other pertinent parties. An agenda including a meeting time limit, and statement of purpose will be prepared prior to the meeting.
New Business: Ordinance 2003-2 was discussed as it pertains to term limits, quorum, powers and duties. It was agreed the verbiage was conflicting and further discussion would be required to possibly amend and/or correct the ordinance.
The Plan Commission members began reviewing Section 9 (Implementation) of the Town Comprehensive Plan. A discussion of the magnitude of the planning process took place along with time schedules established when drafted. Many of the stated action plans and procedures have not been implemented by the dates originally set. Commissioners were asked to come up with action ideas for further discussion of section 9 keeping in mind the goal of preserving the rural nature of the town and lake.
