Town of Long Lake Plan Commission
Meeting Minutes – 7/7/11
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bill Austin at 6:00 PM
Roll Call – All Plan Commission members were present.
Motion made by Le Roy Sandridge and seconded by Al Ausing to approve the June 7, 2011 minutes as presented, with a spelling correction to John Mattson’s name. Motion carried.
New Business: Because Mike Van Gilder (Eng’r. – Cooper Engineering) was attending our meeting new business was handled first. Wes Mohns passed out the topography maps that were recently prepared by SEH, showing the Town’s property surrounding the boat landing. Wes discussed the preliminary report regarding water run-off to the lake. SEH was complimentary about the run-off control already in place. It was felt a future boat washing station near the town hall could be installed with a minimal increase in the water holding capacity of the existing sediment reservoir. A thorough presentation will be given by SEH at a future Plan Commission meeting where LLPA and Boat landing committee members will be in attendance. Mike Van Gilder shared his experience with the wash station in Rice Lake that was designed by Cooper Engineering.
Old Business: Copies of the Washburn County Subdivision Ordinance were passed out to commission members. All were asked to review the County’s Ordinance as it pertains to the Long Lake Comprehensive Plan. The town has three options: 1) do nothing and let the County govern subdivisions as they might desire, 2) adopt the county ordinance making it our plan and thus having a set of rules governing subdivisions, 3) Use portions of the County plan and write a “more restrictive” ordinance for the Town of Long Lake.
Suggested verbiage changes to the town’s building ordinance # 2004-2 were presented by Bill Austin and Gene Romsos. After discussion on several points it was agreed to table this item until the building inspector could be involved. In as much as John Mattson asked for changes for easier interpretation, it was agreed that he should be asked to outline his suggestions/requests and then be in attendance to amend the ordinance to a mutual satisfaction level.

Remarks by Commissioners: Le Roy passed out variance request to be discussed at the August meeting. It was decided to move our meeting date back to the first Tuesday of the month.
