To: The Town of Long Lake Board Chairperson and Supervisors.
Regarding: Listed Ordnance, discussion, requests or actions.
Suggested changes in procedure regarding the communication with the Town Building Inspector
Recap of Specifics: These suggestions are the result of our Joint meeting with the Town Board and Jon Mattson, Town of Long Lake Building Inspector at the regular Planning Commission meeting held on Feb. 4th 2010
Recommendation or Suggested Actions:
1. Town Board to contact County Board to assure the Town receives notification of Land Use Permits (including C.U.P’s) Town Board also to encourage frequent (weekly?) updating of the county website with this information.
2. Require the Town Building Inspector to provide the Town Clerk with a copy of the approved Building permits no less than quarterly
3. Require the Town Building Inspector to provide the Town Clerk with copies of Occupancy Permits granted by him to the Town Clerk approximately every 6 months.(or sooner if possible)
4. Have the Town Clerk maintain a log of both Land Use Permits (Including C.U.P’s) and Occupancy Permits. The Town Clerk should cross check the two items, “red flag” and notify the Town Board of those sites that do not have matching permits, after a reasonable time.
5. Town Board to work with the Building Inspector in the development of an “escrow account” and appropriate deposit to be held as assurance that the permitting process will be adhered to. (The Building Inspector to supply suggested wording from Northwest Builders Assoc.)
6. Town Board and Building Inspector to review current Town Ordinances affecting the permitting process for familiarization and appropriateness.
7. Review citation ordinance with appropriate officials and establish a procedure to follow before violations become an issue.
8. Upon adoption of any or all of these recommendations the Town of Long lake provide the Building Inspector a copy of the adopted recommendations.
